ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2009 Winner - England

England hosted the first-ever ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and won it by defeating New Zealand by six wickets in the final at Lord’s. Claire Taylor, a player from England, was named Player of the Tournament because of her tremendous batting throughout the competition. England won all five of their matches, including games in the league stage, the semi-final against Australia, and the final. England is the first-ever champion team in the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Winners List.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2010 Winner - Australia

Australia Women’s team won their first ICC T20 World Cup in 2010, which was held in the Caribbean. They beat England, South Africa, and West Indies in the group stage. In the semi-final, they defeated the India Women’s team comfortably.

In the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2010, Australia was up against New Zealand/ That was a thriller final where Australia women’s only managed to score 106/8. All-rounder Ellyse Perry played a key role, as she took 3 wickets for 18 runs, and Australia won by just three runs.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2012 Winner - Australia

Australia put its name in the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Winners List for the second time when it won its second Women’s T20 World Cup in 2012, held in Colombo. Even though they lost to England in the group stage, they made it to the semi-finals by winning against India and Pakistan. In the semi-final, they defeated West Indies, and once again cricket fans witnessed a thrilling final where Australia beat England by four runs to lift the trophy 

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2014 Winner - Australia

Australia won their third ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title in 2014 and made it three in a row. This tournament had 10 teams for the first time. Although Australia lost their first group-stage match against New Zealand, they won their next three matches against South Africa, Ireland, and Pakistan. 

In the semi-final, they beat West Indies, and in the final, they easily chased down England’s score with 29 balls to spare. This way, Australia Women’s made a record by winning the T20 world for the third consecutive time.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2016 Winner - West Indies

West Indies stopped Australia’s winning streak by winning the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in India. In the final, Australia set a score of 148/5, but thanks to strong batting by Hayley Matthews and captain Stafanie Taylor, West Indies chased it down in the last over. 

West Indies had only lost to England in the group stage but won their other matches against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India before beating New Zealand in the semi-final. This way, West Indies Women became the only third nation in the world to enter its name on the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Winners List.

The 2016 year was totally domianted by the West Indian T20 Cricket, as their Women’s team, Under 19 Team, and the Men’s T20 team won the T20 world Cup respectively within a span of a month.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 Winner - Australia

Australia regained their title as Women’s T20 World Cup Champions in 2018 in the Caribbean. In the final, they bowled out England for 105 and chased the score comfortably with almost five overs left. 

Alyssa Healy was the top run-scorer in 2018 and was named Player of the Tournament. Australia won five out of six matches, losing only to India in their final group-stage match.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 Winner - Australia

Australia hosted the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time in 2020 and won it for the fifth time. After losing their first group-stage match against India, they bounced back by beating Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. 

In the semi-final, they beat South Africa by five runs using the D/L method. The final was held in front of a huge crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), and Australia dominated, beating India by 85 runs, the biggest margin in a Women’s T20 World Cup final.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Winner - Australia

Australia won their third straight Women’s T20 World Cup title in 2023, this time in South Africa. They defeated the hosts in the final. Ashleigh Gardner was named Player of the Tournament for scoring 110 runs and taking 10 wickets. This was the sixth world cup trophy for the Australian team as they have domianted this competition like none other.

The 9th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup is just around the corner. The Australians are definitely the favorites to lift the trophy once again. They will play their first match in the event against Sri Lanka on October 5, 2024 in Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
