An All Rounder player is probably the most important player in a Pro Kabaddi team who is blessed with both, raiding and defending skills. Such players usually get higher bids in the auction due to their valuable skills in both departments.
So, we will be discussing the 5 PKL best all rounders that are expected to perform in the Pro Kabaddi league, their exceptional stats in raiding, defending, and tackling. We will further discuss other top all rounders who have been outstanding throughout the PKL seasons so far.
5 PKL Best All Rounders to Look Forward in 2024
Here are the top 5 all rounders that will definitely put a great show on the mat and are considered a great asset for their respective teams in the Pro Kabaddi League season 11.
Vijay Malik
Vijay Malik is one of the players who comes to mind, as he helped Dabang Delhi KC win the 2021-22 season. He was highly prolific in the raiding department and so much so that UP Yoddhas decided to purchase him for INR 85 lakh in the last season. However, he couldn’t live up to the high standards and only managed to score 47 points in the last season and that did not justify his price tag..
This super solid performance would highly benefit Dabang Delhi KC because he possesses a high level of skill in both defense and raiding departments. They have already formed an amazing team in the past season but I think that this player would only add more value to the overall game and transition from the offensive to the defensive phase.
Sandeep Narwal
One of the most flamboyant and aggressive players in PKL history and probably the PKL best all rounder, Sandeep Narwal is “The Beast” of kabaddi. Due to his unmatchable skill set and abilities to play this game have won him a special place among fans, and his intensity on the mat is highly comeptitive. Sandeep has been part of the league since 2014, and for the record, has won two PKL titles—first with Patna Pirates in 2016 and then with Dabang Delhi KC in 2021.
It was really a surpise for every kabaddi fan when Sandeep went unsold in the PKL 10 auction. However, this could be the season where teams realize his value once again. The 31-year-old Haryana lad is versatile and can be deployed in the role of a cover or corner defender, and his inclusion will be vital for franchises looking to strengthen their defences.
Sandeep’s aggressive no-holds-barred approach to the game could be what the likes of Tamil Thalaivas need as they set out to form a powerful team next season. Moreover, Patna Pirates’ standout defender of their 2016 title-winning team could be the perfect solution to fixing the team’s defense woes.
Mohammad Nabibakhsh
Mohammad Nabibakhsh marked his debut in PKL by winning the title for Bengal Warriors in 2019. His all-round skills helped Bengal Warriors win their first ever PKL title in season seven. Nabibakhsh scored a total of 92 raid points and 32 tackle points in his debut season. One of the memorable moments in his career is when Bengal Warriors’ star raider Maninder Singh got injured in the playoffs.
Nabibakhsh guided Bengal Warriors to victory and helped them lift the PKL trophy. The past two seasons did not utilize the talent to the fullest, and the all-rounder has struggled to secure a permanent spot in the first seven.
Looking at the all-rounders’ skill, the upcoming auction might see U Mumba buying Nabibakhsh. The Iranian coach Gholamreza Mazandarani might have an influence in favor of Nabibakhsh heading to U Mumba. Nabibakhsh’s all-around characteristics will provide stability in U Mumba and this will increase their chances of winning the trophy this season.
Deepak Niwas Hooda
Many people were stunned to see that one-time national captain Deepak Niwas Hooda had no buyers in last season's auction. This was due to his high auction base price. He had set his base price so high, INR 70 lakh, it was generally believed that teams would be unwilling to bid for him.
Even last year, and despite not having played in the previous season, Deepak is still one of the five great raiders and PKL best all rounder in history. His story - from having lost parents at a young age to working as a teacher before really making it big with kabadi -- is more than inspiring. It is nothing short of inspirational.
Deepak now feels driven as never before to show himself once more to the kabaddi fans. Telugu Titans, the team where he made his debut in PKL, may well be keen to have him back. His qualities like invaluable experience and leadership qualities could be just what they are looking for as they consider building their team around a player of his standard.
Mohammadreza Shadloui
Mohammadreza Shadloui has established himself as one of the PKL Best all rounders over these three seasons. In the left corner, Shadloui has made a name for himself as the best defensive player over the past three seasons. He has been voted as the Best Defender twice in three years.
What makes Shadloui so dangerous is his ability to carry off sudden raids which throw the opponents off guard. His height is an additional advantage, as it allows him to reach the mid-line easily and makes him a dual threat on the mat.
Last season Shadloui became the most expensive foreign player in PKL history, with a wage of INR 2.35 crore. However, Puneri Paltan may have released him in order to save money from their budget.
The Puneri Paltan management has retained most of the squad and if they release Shaduloui, they might use the Final Bid Match (FBM) card to include him back into the Puneri Paltan Squad. If the Puneri management does not do so, Shadloui will be the hot prospect for other teams and they will be willing to pay a huge amount to sign him up.
